Kindles at the Library

The London Public Library has 10 Kindle Paperwhite eReaders for patrons to borrow for a period of 3 weeks.  Patrons must be at least 18 years and older to borrow an Kindle eReader. 

The devices come preloaded with a variety of titles and genres for all ages.  Some of the device's features have been locked such as the Internet and purchasing functions. 

The Kindles are meant to familiarize community members with the emerging ebook format as well as provide a source of reading.  The devices were generously donated by the Friends of the Library. Also checkout our eBook borrowing service called Overdrive.

If you have questions about loaning a device please see a staff member or see the additional information below.

  • Must be 18 years and older to borrow a device
  • Will be responsible for device and accessories if lost, stolen or damaged.
  • 3 week Loan Period
  • Can place a hold on a device
  • Device is not renewable

By borrowing a device, patrons must recognize and follow the Borrower's Agreement and Guidelines.

Borrower's Agreement & Guidelines

I understand that I am fully responsible for this borrowed electronic device, and for its safe and timely return to the library Customer Service Desk from which it was borrowed.  By checking out a device on my library card, I understand, and agree to the rules and procedures listed in this Borrower’s Agreement and Guidelines.
Rules of Use:
>Electronic devices are for use by cardholders that are at least 18 years of age and older.
> eReaders are loaned for a three week loan period. You must return the electronic device to a staff member at the Customer Service Desk from which you borrowed it (no book drop).
>Electronic devices are not renewable.
>The Kindle’s Internet Browsing function and other features have been locked down.  Attempts to change features that have been locked will be considered vandalism. 
>Overdue fees will be charged for electronic devices not returned by their due date in the amount of $2.00 per day.
>If this electronic device is lost, stolen or damaged, or electronic device accessories are lost, stolen or damaged; you will be held responsible for all applicable replacement costs and processing fees (up to $153.00 plus accrued late fees for eReaders).
